Goalkeeper André Onana says he ‘let the team down’ during Manchester United’s 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich defeated Manchester United 4-3 in a chaotic Champions League game at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, after which United goalkeeper André Onana said that he was to blame for the loss. Onana, who joined United from Inter Milan in July, failed to keep out Leroy Sané’s first-half shot to give Bayern a 1-0 lead, the German international’s shot slipping through Onana’s hands when he might have expected to save it. Serge Gnabry’s goal minutes later made it 2-0 and Bayern maintained the advantage in the entertaining contest from there, despite three United goals in the second half. “It’s a difficult situation for us, for me especially because I’m the one who let the team down … We just have to move on,” Onana said on TNT Sports. “This is the life of a goalkeeper and, if we didn’t win today, it’s because of me.” He added: “The team went down because of that mistake. Effigy of Black soccer star Vinícius Jr. hanged from bridge in Madrid

  Spanish national police have opened an investigation “for a possible hate crime,” after an effigy of Real Madrid star Vinícius Junior was hanged from a bridge in Madrid, the national police’s press office for the Madrid region told CNN on Thursday. In videos which have been widely viewed on social media, the effigy – which was dressed in a Real Madrid shirt with Vinícius’ name and No. 20 on the back – was shown hanging from a bridge near Real Madrid’s training ground along with a banner which read: “Madrid hates Real.” Police from the Hortaleza station, nearest the bridge, went to remove it as soon as they became aware of the effigy on Thursday morning at around 8:30 a.m. local time (2:30 a.m. ET), but when they arrived, the banner reading “Madrid hates Real” was no longer hanging there, the press office said.   Cristiano Ronaldo has completed a transfer to Al Nassr. Ronaldo was strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League side after his second spell at Manchester United ended in acrimonious fashion in late November.
